This is a list of some jazz books specially recom­mended for those who wish to follow up the start given in this volume. Details of many other books may be obtained through the National Jazz Federation (see Appendix "A"), and important new books on jazz are reviewed in most of the jazz journals (see Appendix "D").
Jazz by Rex Harris. Pelican Books: 3/6d.
This is the first volume you should add to your jazz library. A most careful and scholarly account of jazz—yet it remains extremely readable. Its 270-odd pages are extraordinary value for money.
